  PREPARATORY SCHOOL

The blind child is no different except for the fact that he does not get visual stimuli and lacks experiences, which are so obvious for a sighted child. Therefore, besides regular scholastic activities, they are trained in reading and writing of Braille/script, activities of daily living, environmental information & object perception, orientation & mobility, physical fitness and recreation.

Here, blind children in the age group 4-14 years are admitted. Duration of the training at Preparatory ranges between 1 to 3 years depending on the child's prior experience, level of understanding and ability to cope. A team of specially trained teachers, a mobility instructor, a physical instructor, art, craft and music teachers are working together towards developing the talents and potentials among the young blind and low vision children with the objective to integrate them into the mainstream schools.
