 INTEGRATED SCHOOL EDUCATION PROGRAMME

  INTEGRATED EDUCATION

In integrated education, the blind and sighted children study together in the same school, attend classes together, work in the lab together as well as participate together in sports, cultural events and other activities. Many government, private, public and convent schools in the mainstream have opened their doors to blind students.

NAB-Delhi works with these schools to create an appropriate learning and teaching environment for the blind and low vision students. Specially trained teachers of NAB-Delhi work as itinerant resource persons by making regular visits and providing useful guidance to blind students, and their teachers, principals and staff in conducting educational and co-curricular activities. We also provide Braille, large print and cassette books to these students. Special equipment’s for writing Braille, Mathematics and Geometry, tape recorders, Braille Watches, talking calculators, white canes, school bags, etc. are made available to every child studying under the programme of Integrated education. In addition, special coaching by Resource Teachers in Science, Commerce, Geography, Geometry, etc. is arranged. Transport facilities and scholarships are also provided to the deserving students. Integrated education brings the blind and the sighted children close to each other from an early age, making them aware of each other's unique potentials and strengths and creating better understanding and acceptance.

HOSTEL FACILITY

NAB-Delhi runs a hostel for those blind boys and girls who are from distant places and cannot commute on day-to-day basis. At the hostel, students have access to free boarding, lodging, medical and recreational facilities, which ensures that the children carry out their studies in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
